5 /5 Katie Barron: Recently, our 52 year old Down Syndrome son, John, upon awakening, experienced blood and blood clots in his urine. Our Broadalbin primary provider, at our request, referred us to Saratoga Hospital Medical Group - Urology. We were referred on a Thursday and immediately granted an appointment the following Monday!
Our son was seen by Sandra Hermans, FNP. We had a wonderful meeting with Ms. Hermans, or Sandy as she is called, who spent close to an hour with us. Sher first, carefully detailed the possible reasons for Johns bloody urine from simple to serious. She then explained, in detail, possible treatments ranging from least to most aggressive, carefully answering our questions about each. As a result of Sandys help we were able to select a course of action that seems most appropriate for our son and with which we are quite comfortable.
We were greatly impressed by Sandys knowledge and expertise. Equally important was her gentleness with our son and her kindness and compassion. Following the appointment, as we returned home, our son said "I liked her." High praise indeed!
In summary, we recommend, most highly, the Saratoga Hospital Medical Urology Group and Sandy Hermans to anyone seeking urological care. We are delighted to have found them and her. Assuming that Sandy Hermans is representative of the practice, Saratoga Hospital and the Group itself can and should feel justly proud.
