Amber Craddock This hospital is exceptional!!! My little dachshund lost function of his back legs on Wednesday morning. He was seen through the ER and had surgery with Dr. Wachowiak the next day. Every single person at this hospital from the front desk to the technicians to the doctors truly cares about the patients as if they were their own. Frank is back home and on the mend. I am so grateful to every member of this hospital!!! Special thank you to Dr. Wachowiak for squeezing Frank in to your already fully booked schedule, Ana for keeping him safe under anesthesia, and the entire ER team for providing exceptional nursing care pre and post op!!! You guys are amazing!!! I am forever grateful!!!!

Cassandra Rojas I lost my sweet doggy girl Mia 3 weeks ago today. It was my first time ever experiencing losing a pet like this and my heart still aches so so so much. On March 11th my family and I noticed Mia had been bloated all weekend and it was getting worse, so we took her to VCA – Ontario. I called ahead to let them know my sweet girl was bloated and they knew it was an emergency and took her in quickly. Unfortunately, there was not a permanent solution to help my sweet girl Mia and she was suffering badly. We made the difficult decision to euthanize her. It was an incredibly sad and heart-breaking moment, but I am thankful for the kind and empathic staff at VCA – Ontario. They took amazing care of my Mia girl, and they were so patient, kind, empathetic towards my family and I during this difficult time. Losing a pet will never be an easy experience, but I thank the staff at VCA- Ontario for their effort in making it as smooth and gentle as possible. May you Rest in Peace my sweet baby girl Mia, I love you so much.

Sensory Catharsis I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at VCA, which felt more like a sales encounter than compassionate medical care. My dog suffered a double fracture, and after being referred to VCA, I reached out, desperate for help. They told me they could squeeze me in that day, but I had to decide immediately, as their next availability wouldn’t be until the following week. When I hesitated, wanting to ensure I was making the right choice, they pressured me, giving me a strict deadline to bring my dog in by noon or risk waiting. The surgery estimate was a shocking $7,300, potentially up to $9,000, which I couldn’t afford, and I was left unsure if it was even the best approach.
When I called back, the staff was not only rude but dismissive, showing no patience or understanding of my financial concerns or desire for clarification. Their attitude implied that I was being difficult for simply wanting to know my options. This experience left me feeling defeated and ashamed, so I sought a second opinion. Thankfully, I found an orthopedic specialist who quoted a significantly lower cost, around $3,000, and suggested a non-surgical splint option with a promising recovery outlook—something VCA hadn’t even mentioned.
I feel that VCA took advantage of my vulnerable situation, prioritizing financial gain over my dog’s wellbeing. The way they handled my case was not only unprofessional but felt deeply unethical. Veterinary care should focus on compassion and the pet’s best interests, not on exploiting clients’ emotions for profit. I would urge other pet owners to approach VCA with caution, as my experience revealed a troubling lack of transparency and empathy.
