Daniel An Year old review, wouldnt say rude. The women there are older however they arent rude. Its not high end but for what its worth your getting the best. If your getting a hair cut dont be that person who moves while shes cutting your hair.

Edward Wenglin I made an appointment with Winnie. Thanks for Allysa Dong’s review posted a year ago. Winnie was very friendly and spent one hour on cutting, designing, washing, and styling my hair. She even shared some tips how I could style my hair in the morning before leaving for work. The price was very reasonable, including tips, which was $30. I definitely will go back to this salon.

milena I went to InStyle hair salon for the first time a week ago. I couldnt be happier with the results! Simon is a great stylist; he gave me a haircut that is really beautiful and stylish! He listened to what I wanted but also made some great suggestions, and the result was awesome! Everyone in the salon was friendly and professional. I definitely recommend visiting them if you need professional haircut and service!

E. C. Rosewood What a find! I had been going to other salons in the neighborhood, spending much more, and not having great experiences. Stylists would either disagree with the type of cut I wanted, charge for things I never asked for, try to sell me all their products, and (this is just a pet peeve of mine) ask me personal questions constantly while I was trying to sit still and just chill out for the little time I have to myself. At this salon, I was able to make an appointment for the day after I called. I was seen at opening with no delay, got a great deep scalp massage during the hair wash, and (after showing a few pics of what I wanted) got EXACTLY what I asked for done so meticulously and patiently I kept thanking Iris over and over again. She paused and checked in with a mirror, asked any questions before proceeding at different points, used a nice curl cream, and the whole thing was $40 so I could even afford to give them extra in tips - A-mazing I almost didnt want to write a review because I want to keep this place a secret, but they deserve it. Definitely my new hair haunt!

Didayinta Adi Got an amazing bob haircut here! Staff were friendly, very attentive, and actually listen to your requests. In my case, halfway through the cut I noticed my hair was still a little too long for my liking, so I asked if we could go a bit shorter. My stylist understood and immediately trimmed it to my desired length, even though he knew this would take more time (with bob haircuts you have to work layer by layer which takes a while!). He was very patient and professional about it. Highly recommend!!

Danny Bree Horrendous haircut. I asked for a low taper fade with middle part. Face a reference photo and came out nothing like it. She basically shaved the sides and back of my head. She started with the back of my head and I didn’t notice until it was too late. So I had to endure the 45 minute haircut that should been 10 for what came of it. Obviously never coming back here again.

Sonya Wysocki I waited a few weeks to leave my review to make sure I loved my new haircut as much as I did the day I got it. And I do!! Sergio gave me the cutest bob--fresh, sassy, and swingy. Its short but somehow long enough to pull back into wee ponytails when I need to get my hair out of my eyes during a workout. I like that he didnt use a ton of styling products as Im a wash and go kinda gal. Typically I bob my hair in the winter during hat season and then grow it out for summer but Ive gotten so many compliments that I think I might just keep it short now.

Taylor Stefandel Came across this salon after I had a botched dye job the day before and Sergio was so accommodating. He has been doing hair for a VERY long time and is super knowledgeable when it comes to dying hair (especially blondes). He tried to prevent my hair from further damage as I basically needed to re-dye my whole head and I walked out with healthier hair then before!!! So crazy, and couldn’t believe that my hair barely had any breakage after he was done. He suggested some great products to use at home to make my hair stronger and overall was so kind. He made me feel so comfortable in his chair, I feel like Ive known him forever. Thank you Sergio and see you soon! :)

Kim Moser I love it here. But most of all I love Raphael! I was never one to sit in a salon monthly but due to an injury, I cannot do my own hair anymore so I have to go monthly thanks to the ol roots!. She’s wonderful. Kind, funny and - master of her craft. I have never gotten a bad haircut in the 16 years I have been going to her. My kids use her and several friends. The salon itself has a great vibe - it’s not overly noisy and the pricing for services are very reasonable. The entire staff is friendly and fun to be around. Try it out you won’t be sorry.

Tiffany Lynn My mother & I went to Vincent for haircuts and were both so happy with the results. Vincent is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable, he explains his process as he’s cutting your hair. We both showed him pictures of what we wanted and it came out even better than the photos shown. Will definitely only be using this salon from now on

Ling Lam I had my hair cut and colored by Tony. The cut was very choppy and messy. The layers did not blend well. I ended up with the front layers looking like bat wings. It was very disappointing especially since I had an important event to attend. The coloring was ok. When I got home, I noticed he missed a few gray hair around the hairline. Frustrating because I had actually discussed that with him beforehand. Even though we discussed what I wanted, he ended up cutting the style he wanted.

You did uneven hair color on my hair and i am not satisfied with the color, the color you gave me is not the one that i show you. Also, there is no color in ends. Looks like you didn’t touch my ends for color, so very uneven As per i paid, it’s not worth it actually

Jessica Chu-A-Kong Tony did a great job explaining why he was using certain techniques and showed me a few tips on styling. Best shampoo I’ve gotten as well and in and out in less than an hour!

TWOSEVEN FOUR I came to Estelle with very over processed hair my hair was so damaged from my previous stylist in the city. I was introduced to Nina ( super Nina I call her ) we came up with a plan to save my hair and still be able to do my highlights a year later my hair is 20x healthier and beautiful thanks to Nina I love the staff I love Estelle they always make me feel at home. I also get my updos done at Estelle all I do is show the pictures and they do it exactly as is I love this salon I recommend this salon for all your hair needs

Kristina Cvjeticanin This was truly the best salon experience I have ever had! This was my first time coming to the salon, and I was pretty nervous (I have curly hair and did not have many good haircut experiences). But, once I walked in, I was greeted warmly and offered refreshments. I was immediately set for a wash and a deep conditioning treatment. My stylist, Nina, introduced herself, was very complimentary about my hair, and engaged with my requests. She answered all my questions and explained how she would cut my hair and why she would use that technique. My session did not feel rushed at all, and it was comfortable, fun, and collaborative. My results are fantastic and make me feel extremely confident!

Rosie I recently had an amazing balayage done by Dorela, who is a very talented hairstylist. This hair look truly exceeded my expectations. The balayage technique was flawless, creating a stunning, natural blend that left my hair vibrant and healthy. Rosa Martinez Amazing service. First time visiting Garden Hair salon.The whole team its just amazing. I came in with burgundy color I did not like it I was tired of the same color. I found this because is close from home. I requested a free consultation: I talked to Leo I explained I wanted ash brown color and highlights not possible for a black red hair like mine. This place took the challenge and after hours of treatment I got an amazing hair dye with beautiful highlights. I am fascinated with the results. It was worth every penny. This is a trustworthy establishment, very professional and very welcoming. I give them 10 stars!!! This will b my favorite and only place for my hair for now on. Nahir Kass I made an appointment for an emergency hair cut and highlights with Leo. He transformed my botched and terrible hair cut from the day before. It was an incredible experience. The reservation process was quick and easy. The site is super intuitive. The hair cut I received the day before was uneven, choppy and made me look like Olive Oil. Leo inspected my hair and goes- “Don’t worry. I’ll make it even and beautiful. Just sit back and relax.” And relax I did. The entire process of highlight and cut took 2 hours. Which is a sign that you are not being rushed out and they are gently coloring your hair. Once my hair was highlighted and ready it was time for my hair cut. Honestly, I just held my breath thinking that my hair needed to be cut super short to fix the state it was in. Leo took his time and shaped my hair. I am truly thankful for his styling and highlighting. He will give you his true opinion and will be honest about expectations. Thank you Garden Beauty Salon for helping me.

J C I just had a haircut and digital perm done with Kevin and it was such an amazing experience. Firstly, he looked at the inspiration photos I brought in and then also showed me some of his past digital perms on other clients. I chose the style I wanted which was slightly looser curls and more volume at the top of my head. After we decided on the perm style, he first gave me a haircut. Let me tell you, his technique in cutting and layering was the most precise and gentle I have ever had before. I almost wanted to skip the perm after the cut was washed and blown out because it looked so good. Just to note, the haircut and perm price are separate. Next the perm process was so meticulous and done so well. Shoutout to his assistant who helped with the process as well as provided snacks and coffee for me!! I was so genuinely surprised that my hair did not feel damaged after having it permed. The curls were exactly what I wanted and Kevin was able to perfectly bring my inspiration to life. I would definitely recommend Kevin if you want a healthy, gorgeous perm and a great salon experience!

ILKP JZ I walked in expecting a simple, quick men’s haircut, but the stylist gave me an uneven cut and then pressured me into getting a perm. I thought it would be a simple wave that would give me volume since that’s how he explained it. Once they started wrapping three curls, I realized it was going to take much longer than expected. I told them I needed to leave by 6:30, but the women said they couldn’t stop because they had already started—even though it had only been a couple of minutes and could have easily been stopped. The whole process ended up taking 1.5 hours. They rushed through the perm because I needed to leave and they were closing soon, so I don’t understand why they started in the first place. The result was way too curly, uneven (one side curlier than the other), looked nothing like the picture I showed them, I ended up leaving at 6:50, and top of that, I ended up paying far more than I planned.

Leo Yeung Jun is the man, a genuine great guy and actually cares about your hair. He makes sure you walk out the door looking good, and he doesn’t mind taking up his own time to perfect your hair, 100% recommend!

Erica Johnson I don’t mean to be disrespectful but honestly, don’t even waste your time or money going to her salon. Her vibe was very disrespectful which made me feel uncomfortable and left immediately and she wasn’t informative about the policy at all prior to me coming for a pixie haircut.

Diane Tran I had a digital perm, root touch up, trim, and hydrating treatment done here. The professionalism and quality of work you get here are phenomenal. Cost for digital perms are much more reasonable than anywhere else Ive looked in Queens and Midtown. They start at 280 and increase depending on hair density, hair length, or other add-ons. My stylist was Erica and she is as skilled as she is generous. I absolutely loved her work. She added such dimension to my hair with the perm using both S and C curls. My hair was so dry from using the wrong products and her hydrating treatment left it silky smooth. She also offered to trim my hair on-the-house (because my hair was that dry and she said she felt pity for me hahaha). I actually ended up coming here twice because my root touch up didnt take at first. Erica was incredibly professional and lovely, I was able to return to have it redone at no extra cost. At this second appointment, she showed her expertise by being able to color match my hair pretty well despite the odd transitions throughout due to heat styling. Erica was also very accommodating with my schedule. I told her that I work a very busy schedule as a resident physician and wouldnt be able to come in right away - she was able to fit me in, even when it was 3 weeks after my first session and I called last minute when I found out I could get out of work early. The atmosphere here is calming, clean, and relaxing. An overall wonderful experience and I highly recommend Erica!

YSC If youre looking for a nice blow dry and layered hair, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hair done from Yuri. She has been my hair stylist for a long time and I cannot find anyone as amazing as her. She knows my hair well and knows which hair style would look best on me.

Merry Wu I was recommended Nikki by a relative and unfortunately left very disappointed. I’m still crying about this bad haircut. Although she was nice- I was not able to grab my phone to show her the photo of what I wanted before she went straight into cutting. She also misunderstood what I meant when I try to convey that I did not like volume at the top as she kept trying to poof up the top and curve the bottom for framing. This made my face look much rounder than it should be and gave weird proportions. She also cut very fragmented and short blunts for layers which she advised to just wash and let the waves do the work. However as you can see from below after a wash- it doesn’t look good at all and you can clearly see how blunt the layer edges are. The overall shape and how wavy my hair natural is does not work together at all. Not all wavy hair is the same and unfortunately it’s worse because of how short the layer ends are so I will have to straighten my hair everyday now or tie it up in a ponytail until I can grow it back out which will take a while. I also tried to get this fixed elsewhere but they could not save it for what I wanted as it was too short and too fragmented between the front and back. So I am very sad about this as I was attending an event soon and will have to wait a long time to get my hair properly done somewhere else and not at Hair Salon Mint anymore. I suggest next time that Nikki ask more about the person’s hair preference before going in and cutting straight. Or go with someone else to cut your hair.

Cynthia Sara is the only person who will ever touch my hair!! Sara will take her time to listen to what hair inspo I want and will deliver the beautiful results . She is very knowledgeable and offers her expertise based on my hair type and color tones. I’ve been a blonde for about 4 years and my hair feels so healthy all because of Sara. For my haircuts she was able to keep my long length and give me long beautiful layers to add some volume. I always leave the salon obsessing over my hair color and cut, she’s truly the best in the game go book!!!!

Laurel Yaros I’ve been going to Rita’s ever since the fall for my haircuts with Albina (who I love). She knows how to cut my type 2B/C curls. On and off I consulted with Ella to get Pro Addiction on my hair to tame the frizziness, reduce daily maintenance, improve styling outcomes and promote healthy hair growth. I decided to go all in and I’ve already noticed a difference in the amount of shedding. I’m so happy with my hair. Reina HR I came in to get a part shave and trim. The back of my head was messed up after many barbers misinterpreted what I wanted and Rosie fixed it up. I went with no appointment after the groupon I got for another salon was rejected. Was in a bad mood but felt so much better once she took care of me. I love my hair!

Jessie Yu I’ve been going to David since 2017-2018, so this review is 5 years overdue. Having tried many stylists in the past (been dying my hair since 2010), I have stuck with David ever since he has first done my hair. I have always been particular about my hair color and David has always been incredibly accommodating! Starting from the beginning, David is incredibly accommodating on my various schedules especially since I’ve been driving from Jersey just to see him. He always pays close attention to the reference pictures I show him and the particular details regarding what color I want my hair to be. What I appreciate about David is that he’s honest and tries his best to mimic the pictures but always warns that it won’t turn out exactly like the picture I show. David always walks me through what he plans on doing with my hair (of course) even though he knows I’ve been going for a while and trust his process. He also earnestly cares about the health of my hair and goes out of his way to use less harsh products to maintain the quality of my hair. He has referred me to various products like specific shampoo’s, conditioner’s, and purple conditioner’s. I also come to David when my hair seems particularly dry and he has used masks/treatments for my hair. What is really incredible about David is how he cares about his client’s satisfaction, he is willing to re-tone my hair even after a whole session if I am not happy with the end result. This care and consideration is what I believe puts David above other hair stylists! I appreciate that he is willing to put in the extra effort to make sure I love it. An important thing to note is that I have long, thick hair, so our full head sessions usually take about 8 hours long. David is always incredibly patient, and never tries to rush the long process. We’ve had to start at 12pm and end at around 9pm when his shop usually closes around 7pm. I have brought family to David, and he had fixed my cousin’s cut & color hair disaster in the past. David is someone I highly recommend as well as the rest of his staff. I want to give a special shout out to Kelly, David’s assistant, for giving great washes and also taking the time to do my hair. She is incredibly sweet and very meticulous as well. If you want to find a place where you can consistently go to and not fight for a place on the waiting list, I highly recommend David! I have attached my numerous pictures from different timelines of my life as well as different lightings to really show off his work. Another commendable note, whenever my hair starts growing out, the color still look good because he makes sure to blend it.

Ahnaf Chowdhury I would give 0 stars if I could, came for a trim on a very basic wolf cut. He took all the volume out of my hair and made me look like a circus clown 1 week before my wedding. Sped through the entire haircut like it was a race, one second I have a full head of healthy hair, 5 minutes later everything is gone. Dude smelled like cigarettes and went to color another clients hair mid cut. You’re better of buying clipper and shaving your head than coming here.

Jenny Lau This was my first time coming and David did not disappoint! I’m very happy with my colouring and he was extremely welcoming too. My balayage and haircut took around 5 hours so I was even offered snacks to munch on from their snack basket — very thoughtful. Communication was also very quick and smooth (I DMd him via Instagram). He also speaks fluent Cantonese and mandarin. Pricing was also extremely reasonable compared to what I had been looking at in the city (service rate was $400). I’m glad I have found my go-to hair colourist for dark Asian hair — I’ll be coming here from now on. Thank you, David!

Bethany C I got an amazing haircut here, but I emphasized to the hair washer and the hair dresser that I was only here for a haircut 2x. No washing. I told them my hair was already clean and I didn’t want to dry it out too much. They led me to the sink and I thought they were going to just wet my hair but she gave me a wash. Didn’t love that part but the haircut was superb.

Rachel C David and his staff did an amazing job coloring my hair! I got the balayage and the I got sooo many compliments on my hair!! Everyone there was very professional and very clean hair studio. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

Helen Scully-Nisa I had an amazing experience at Xcellent Hair Plaza in Astoria. I decided to try this salon after having a terrible experience at a very trendy place in Flushing and I’m glad I did! Anthony did everything right: he listened to what I wanted, stopped to check in with me to make sure I was happy with what he was doing, and explained what he was doing and why. There was no point where I was worried or felt ignored, which was important to me given prior experiences at other salons. I got a cut and color balayage and I’m thrilled with my results. Everyone at the salon was incredibly friendly and attentive, the prices are very fair, and the quality of work that’s done is stellar!

Kristen Pearson Xcellent Hair Salon is amazing, from the receptionist who is sweet and attentive, she makes sure you are well taken care of, then to the hair washing team(by the way Is the best experience ever). The hair washers give you a message for your scalp that is something you have to come and experience. I got my hair colored trimmed blow dyed and curled for such a good price. I was so impressed and will definitely be going back there as my regular hair salon!

Edwin Caceres This salon is very professional, accommodating, and clean, with very kind and respectful barbers, stylists and assistants/washers. Ive been getting my haircuts from Derrick for over 15 years now. Like stated before he is very accommodating as he will give you a FREE CONSULTATION; so just speak clearly or show a picture of how you would want your hair cut and hell give you that exact cut due to his abilities which are high class. Also, as well as if he feels it wont fit you; he will make recommendations of which haircut/style would fit you best based on your head shape/hair type. Ive never been disappointed with a haircut hes given me and Im 100% sure you wont be either.

LIGHT 25 A really underrated salon with friendly and also great barbers that will help with all your needs. From a high end bargain cut to a perm, as well as hair dying/ color. Great environment. I have been here for 2 years or so and never disappointed any of those times, got normal cuts here as well as a perm. Ive always been taken care by Derrick for the high end bargain cut and Kent who did my perm. Perm came out fantastic and lasted for a longggg time. Recommended the spot to my parents for hair color and they said the experience along with the actual service was the best!

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Derrick for the past 5 years and he always delivers exactly what I ask for, with suggestions on top of it all as well. Pricing has gone up over the years as along with everywhere but for the quality of service and compared to other shops, it’s a bargain! The barbers here are always attentive and professional and if youre ever unsure of what you want, don’t be afraid to ask!

Vicky Low Please THINK Twice, before you choose this place. I recently visited this hair salon for a hair trim. Initially, everything seemed fine when I left the salon, but later that evening, I noticed that my haircut was uneven, with several strands left uncut. I would expect this kind of result from an amateur hairstylist; however, its not what I signed up for, nor what I paid for. Disappointed with the outcome, I contacted the salon to request a refund. 2 days later, they responded to my request with an offer to fix my hair instead of providing a refund. Unfortunately, I HAD to get my hair fixed that day (I work in an office five days a week), but they were unable to accommodate me due to the salon being closed. Additionally, I do not see myself taking the risk of having another stylist at the salon fix my hair, especially when it seems there is no quality control over their hairstylists. This was frustrating, as the issue was not immediately apparent until I had a closer look at home. If you are a new customer, especially if you do not speak Spanish, I would advise against getting a haircut here. The service quality and lack of customer support were not up to standard, and I regret choosing this salon for my trim.

Leonardo and his assistant did a great job on my fine hair I did blonde balayage & hair treatment .they didn’t damage my delicate hair and Leonardo recommend the hair home treatment to keep takin care of my hair . He is very professional. One more thing the teas they offer is amazing . I felt like I knew them for a long time very friendly environment. Thank you Leonardo .

A S Postitive: Leonardo Maciel himself is great and excellent to consult with. I didnt get my haircut with Leonardo. Negative: Had a similar negative experience regarding price accuracy and transparency. Over the phone I was told the cost for a womens haircut for thick long hair with layers is $50. The website says a haircut includes "Womens custom haircut and style." Upon checking out, I was very surprised to be charged $90. They said a style wasnt included in the price and the style was $40. My hair is thick and a lot to work with so I didnt rebut and paid it. Though I did politely suggest they update their website. I was disappointed they got defensive and said, thats why they post their prices physically in the salon. As a customer having called and checked the website regarding pricing, its not customer oriented to expect us to check a third data point to understand how much the haircut will cost. My haircut was fine but rushed, and even more so after I had to ask the stylist to cut my layers higher after not confirming the shortest length upon the first cut. The style was definitely not for me, we didnt discuss preference at all (heavy layered 1950s flip out), but maybe some folks like that. She did do an excellent job smoothing my frizzy hair during the style. At $90 plus the rushed job, I would opt for another salon. For $50 and just a trim, no style, Id give it another try with a different stylist.

Chelsea Guaman I don’t like this salon They just robbed me, I was charged more than I was suppose too. I asked this hair stylist Jessica if it’s going to be $50 for everything with cut and blow dry and she said yes and I came out to pay almost $140 for just a hair cut and blow dry. I’m not happy with her service and I’m not happy with this salon.

Liz Liz Awful haircut. My hair is wavy and the guy that did my hair spent no more than 15 minutes on it after I waited an hour. Was told to come back for a hair treatment… how is that going to help when my haircut doesn’t flatter me in the first place? Second time I’ve been to this salon and this experience was worse than the last. During the haircut I did not feel comfortable or like they wanted me there, after the haircut I felt more unattractive than I did when I came in. Do yourself a favor and don’t spend your money here… cash grabbers :(
