5 /5 Darius Evans: On Monday, February 10, 2025, I experienced a significant fall while visiting a car dealership. The moment I hit the ground, I felt an intense, jarring pain and quickly realized I was unable to stand up. My knee began to swell dramatically, creating an alarming bulge that left me filled with anxiety and confusion. Not knowing the full extent of my injury, I immediately called my mom, frantic and in need of help. I asked her to take me to the emergency room.
We arrived at Baylor Scott & White Fort Worth, where the staff greeted us warmly despite the chaos of the ER. They were incredibly attentive, doing their best to ensure I was comfortable while I waited to be seen. The discomfort was overwhelming, and I quickly realized that the pain medication they administered wasn’t alleviating my agony as I had hoped.
After a series of X-rays and CT scans that felt like an eternity, the doctors delivered the verdict: I had fractured my femur. The news hit me hard, but I also felt a sense of relief to finally know what was wrong. The following day, I was wheeled into the operating room, where the surgical team worked diligently to repair the damage. When I woke up from the anesthesia, the pain that had tormented me was gone. It was an incredible feeling to be completely pain-free for the first time since my fall, and it brought me a sense of hope as I began my recovery journey.
