4 /5 Hannah: I read all of the reviews prior to my appointment today and, from todays visit, it felt like they addressed all of the customer service issues others had past problems with. I saw Dr. Bonds today as a new patient. The reviews about her amazing bedside manner were accurate. She was thorough in both exam and in information. I went to her for a consult on having a tubal because shes on a list of doctors who will do a tubal without forcing her opinions or views on you. She didnt ask questions and was supportive of my choice. She was, also, extremely understanding and sensitive to how anxious these appointments make me. I will be switching all of my OBGYN care over to Dr. Bonds for the foreseeable future. Even if front desk staff were rude today, which they were NOT, I would happily tolerate it just to see Dr. Bonds.
I will update the review if there are any surprise bills as that seems to be a BIG issue there. My insurance covers preventative at 100% and copay is only $50. So, if I get anything outside of that, I will be calling to discuss with them.
UPDATE 1 and decreasing my rating as a result: Be forewarned. if youre needing to schedule a surgery, they will scheduled it BEFORE ever checking with you and expect you to make it work. Then, they seem annoyed when you say it cant work and need to move it. They tried to schedule my surgery 2 days before Thanksgiving which means I would miss out on the holidays with my family. This is inconsiderate of the patient. Im sure some might be able to do it then, but 2 days before would mean I have to miss out on Thanksgiving altogether. I was told it has to do with NWTH and when works for them, but I still do not see how they cant get a list of dates from NW or even call the patient FIRST for possible dates then check with the hospital. I wouldve been more understanding if the person who called wasnt clearly annoyed with me saying 2 days before Thanksgiving wouldnt work for me. If she had called me first, I couldve given her an exact date that worked like I told her today and it wouldve avoided the clear annoyance.
Update 2: Surgery went really well. Dr. Bonds did a great job, especially at making sure I understand the severity of the postop chest pain. That was surprisingly bad! Outside of normal postoperative soreness with a tubal, Ive had no issues. Im about 5 days postop and back to normal life just a bit slower. Im even back at the gym, just lifting less weight. Im a childless woman who has a familial history of ovarian cancer. Im in my 30s and dont want kids and never have. I decided to have my tubes removed to help reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. Dr. Bonds never questioned me or my motives for removing my sterility. If it werent for starting a new job, I wouldve had my surgery within just a few weeks of my appointment with her. Thankfully, they were able to adjust my surgery day and got it done right before my works closing for the holidays. So, Ive got almost 3 weeks to recover. Overall, Ive had a pretty good experience with WHA. Will provide a final update around my postoperative appointment and after when Id receive any surprise bills. Their insurance person told me I wouldnt owe anything for the surgery and my insurance EOBs support that. But Im waiting to see if I get any surprise bills.
Post-op update: no surprise bills so far and Ive been cleared to go about life as normal. Honestly, I cant recommend Dr. Bonds enough. I did confirm she doesnt do any pain management where in office procedures, like IUD insertions, are concerned. But shes so supportive of her patients and the choices they make. Also, she seems quite knowledgeable about how a hx of SA impacts women. I will be referring my clients to her for that reason alone! I didnt interact much with office staff outside of checking in and getting surgery scheduled, but aside from my previous update, I had a phenomenal experience with Dr. Bonds and her staff. She gets 5 stars from me!
